Test Description: Abrasion resistance is measured in a laboratory by rotating a paper sample under abrasive wheels for a set length of time, and then measuring the sample's change in weight. Wet or dry abrasion resistance tests can be performed. The wearing action is caused by two abrasive wheels , which are applied at a defined pressure to material sample , which has been mounted on a rotating specimen holder . abrasion resistance can be established by various testing methods (weight loss method , visual end point method , depth of wear method etc.)

Device Description : The metering bar coater is a table top instrument with a quick clamping unit for the sample . the coating materials (like a piece of paper and board) lies on a rubber – melinex surface . A metering bar is clamped into a clamp system and the coating colour is put on front of the bar . the motor moves the bar with a predefined speed over the coating material and stops when the end is reached . the bar is lifted off the coated samples and motor moves the system back to start position.
